USP Workshop on Adulteration and
Fraud in Food Ingredients and Dietary Supplements
Rockville, MD: February 27th – 28th, 2018
The fourth in a series of biennial USP workshops will bring
together global experts to discuss the current state and necessary next steps
to help protect public health from the risks of adulterated food and dietary
supplements from economically motivated adulteration (EMA) and food fraud.
Participants will obtain insights into the latest technologies, tools, and regulatory
developments for dealing with EMA; learn about current and in-development USP
standards and other tools for combating food and dietary supplement fraud; and
participate in exchange about current needs and help shape the discussion of
what is needed to help protect food and dietary supplement safety and integrity.

18th Annual Oxford International
Conference on the Science of Botanicals (ICSB)
Oxford, MS: April 9th - 12th, 2018
The 18th Oxford ICSB is a unique event to discuss current
issues in the herbal dietary supplement industry and to stay informed on the
latest research with regard to herbal medicine. Topics of the conference
include post-market surveillance, risk and safety assessment, quality control
and adverse event reporting (AER) for botanical dietary supplements, as well as
regulatory aspects with perspectives from government, manufacturers, and trade
associations. To this end, the program will include relevant presentations by government
officials, nonprofit research organizations, major trade associations, and
industry representatives on pressing topics that affect herbal dietary
supplements and their impact on consumers.

14th Annual Meeting of the Natural
Health Products Research Society of Canada
Guelph, ON, Canada: May14th – 18th, 2018
Entitled “Innovation at the NHP/Food Interface,” this
conference is a smaller event which provides many networking opportunities for
the attendees. Given the fact that the meeting will be help in Guelph, the location
of several research groups focusing on genetic authentication of botanical
ingredients, discussions around DNA-based authentication of plant materials can
be expected to take a prominent part at the conference. However, details of
conference program have yet to be published.
