18th Annual Oxford International Conference on the Science of Botanicals (ICSB)

Oxford, MS: April 9th – 12th, 2018

The 18th Oxford ICSB is a unique event to discuss current issues in the herbal dietary supplement industry and to stay informed on the latest research with regard to herbal medicine. Topics of the conference include post-market surveillance, risk and safety assessment, quality control and adverse event reporting (AER) for botanical dietary supplements, as well as regulatory aspects with perspectives from government, manufacturers, and trade associations. To this end, the program will include relevant presentations by government officials, nonprofit research organizations, major trade associations, and industry representatives on pressing topics that affect herbal dietary supplements and their impact on consumers.

14th Annual Meeting of the Natural Health Products Research Society of Canada

Guelph, ON, Canada: May14th – 18th, 2018

Entitled “Innovation at the NHP/Food Interface,” this conference is a smaller event which provides many networking opportunities for the attendees. Given the fact that the meeting will be held in Guelph, the location of several research groups focusing on genetic authentication of botanical ingredients, discussions around DNA-based authentication of plant materials can be expected to take a prominent part at the conference. However, details of conference program have yet to be published.

59th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP)

Lexington, KY: July 21st – 25th, 2018

This meeting of the American Society of Pharmacognosy is focused primarily on the discovery of new therapeutic lead compounds from natural resources. Since this is the largest meeting on natural products research in North America, this is a good meeting to stay current on new analytical trends and applications of analytical instruments for the analysis of botanicals. One of the focal topics of this year’s meeting will be modifications of biosynthetic pathways to produce new molecules.
