FWD 2 Botanical Adulterants Monitor

Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program's Appreciation of Peer Reviewer Contributions

The extensive peer review of documents published as part of BAPP is an integral part of providing balanced and accurate information to the international botanical trade. The Botanical Adulterants Prevention Bulletins and Laboratory Guidance Documents sent for peer review in 2018 were evaluated by 14-25 experts from academia, government, industry, and nonprofit organizations, while the Botanical Adulterants Monitor was assessed by three to five reviewers.

In order to recognize the time spent in support of the Program, and for the suggestions and edits that are essential to achieve the high publication standard we strive for, we would like to extend our deep appreciation to everyone who has participated in the peer-review process. BAPP publications usually undergo an initial review by Mark Blumenthal (American Botanical Council, Austin, TX), John H. Cardellina II (ReevesGroup, Virginia Beach, VA), Steven Foster (Steven Foster Group, Eureka Springs, AR), Ikhlas A. Khan (University of Mississippi, University, MS), and Roy Upton (American Herbal Pharmacopoeia, Scotts Valley, CA), before being sent to additional expert members from academia, government, industry, and nonprofit organizations. A special thanks goes to Roberto Pace (Indena SpA, Milan, Italy) and Brian Killday (Bruker-Biospin, Billerica, MA), who commented on all six documents that were sent to them for review, and to Kirsten Tripplett (Traditional Medicinals, Sebastopol, CA) and Jeremy Stewart (Gaia Herbs, Brevard, NC) for completing five BAPP reviews in 2018. A list with the names of all our 2018 peer-reviewers is given below.
