NutraIngredients-USA Recognizes Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program with Editors Award for Industry Initiative of the Year

The ABC-AHP-NCNPR Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program (BAPP) received the Editor’s Award for “Industry Initiative of the Year” by NutraIngredients-USA, one of the leading natural products and dietary supplement industry trade publications in the United States. The award recognizes a novel or innovative program, project, or platform that increases consumer trust and transparency, has demonstrable success, and moves the dietary supplement industry forward. BAPP was selected among three finalists, including the Global Retail and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA), an alliance of major retailers, manufacturers, trade associations and certification bodies formed to develop an auditing scheme that utilizes consensus-based quality system standards for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and dietary supplement manufacturer MegaFoods for its petition to ban the use of the herbicide glyphosate.

In its article covering the award, the NutraIngredients-USA team wrote “BAPP is an exemplary educational resource about adulteration in the botanical supply chain, with its growing body of peer-reviewed literature, laboratory guidance documents, bulletins, and newsletters.”¹ The award was accepted by Denise Meikel, ABC’s Director of Development, at the NutraIngredients-USA Award Reception on June 3, 2019, in New Orleans, LA, during the Institute for Food Technology’s 2019 Food Expo.²
