National Animal Supplement Council
Endorses BAP

Founded in 2001, the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) is an American trade association of stakeholders concerned with the issues surrounding the supply of health supplements for companion animals, i.e., dogs, cats, and horses. NASC members include manufacturers of animal health supplements who are committed to high standards of quality and safety in the industry, as well as raw material suppliers, distributors, veterinarians, retailers, pet professionals, and animal friends. The Council has over 125 members, all of which are required to undergo a rigorous independent audit of their facilities. Upon successful completion of this audit, members may display the NASC Seal of Quality to show their commitment to the highest quality standards. Bill Bookout, NASC President and Chair of the Board of Directors, notified Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of ABC and director of the Botanical Adulterants Program, of the Program’s endorsement by NASC in a letter dated June 7, 2016. “We applaud [the Program’s] efforts to proactively address the issues surrounding quality and adulteration of these important raw materials . . . [H]aving trust, radical transparency and verification in the supply chain is arguably the most important issue facing the human or animal supplement industries today.”
