Taraxaci radix cum herba, dandelion root with herb.
Composition of Drug
Dandelion root with herb consists of the entire plant Taraxacum officinale G. H. Weber ex Wiggers s.l. [Fam. Asteraceae], gathered while flowering, as well as its preparations in effective dosage.
Ingredients include the bitter principles lactucopicrin (taraxacin), triterpenoids, and phytosterol.
Uses

Disturbances in bile flow, stimulation of diuresis, loss of appetite, and dyspepsia.
Contraindications
|
|
Obstruction of bile ducts, gall bladder empyema, ileus. In case of gallstones, use only after consultation with a physician.
Side Effects
|
|
As with all drugs containing bitter substances, discomfort due to gastric hyperacidity may occur.
Interactions with Other Drugs
None known.
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed: As tea:
- 1 tablespoon of cut drug per cup of water.
As decoction:
- 3 - 4 g of cut or powdered drug per cup of water.
As tincture:
- 10 - 15 drops 3 times daily.
Mode of Administration
Liquid and solid preparations for oral use.
