FON Therapeutics, with the support of numerous individuals, companies, and
integrative health care organizations, has honored John Weeks — publisher of Integrator
Blog News & Reports and executive director of the Academic
Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care (ACCAHC) — with a lifetime achievement
living tribute award and an e-book in recognition of his work. The e-book and award were made possible by
the generous sponsorship of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for
Integrative Medicine (CAHCIM), the Integrative Healthcare Policy Consortium
(IHPC), and ACCAHC, among others.† The
award was presented to Weeks on May 15, 2014, during the International Research
Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health gala in Miami, Florida.1 FON Therapeutics is a business consulting firm committed to
helping integrative medicine and health enterprises grow their companies.
Weeks has served the integrative medicine community for almost 30 years as a
writer, organizer, executive, and advocate. He has written for a number of
publications, including The Pain
Practitioner, Integrative Medicine: A
Clinician's Journal, IntegrativePractitioner.com, the consumer-oriented Alternative Medicine magazine, and The Huffington Post, in addition to
serving as an outside consultant for the World Health Organization Traditional
Medicine Strategy 2014-2023. His work has been cited by publications such as Newsweek, Modern Healthcare, Hospitals
and Health Networks, The New York
Times, and The Boston Globe. His Integrator
blog serves to link leaders in the field with policy, academic, and economic
issues.2
Weeks also has a connection to the American Botanical Council, having served as
a member of the Advisory Board and one term on the ABC Board of Trustees.
The e-book is 64 pages and includes over 150 tributes from noted members of the
complementary medicine community such as Andrew Weil, MD; Josephine Briggs, MD,
director of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine; Joe
Pizzorno, ND, co-founder of Bastyr University; integrative medicine pioneer
James Gordon, MD; and ABC’s Founder and Executive Director Mark Blumenthal.
“John is an integral part of the fabric of the [complementary and alternative
medicine] and Integrative Medicine community, and has done as much or more than
anyone in helping to promote and guide its evolution and growth,” wrote
Blumenthal in the e-book.3
