Center for Mind-Body Medicine Launches New Web Site

The Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM), a nonprofit educational organization based in Washington D.C., recently launched a new and improved Web site. The CMBM, founded in 1991 by Washington, D.C. area CAM physician James S. Gordon, MD, offers training and certification programs that promote self-care and integrative approaches to medicine and healing, particularly for physicians and patients dealing with various types of cancer. The organization’s new Web site features information regarding published and ongoing CMBM-sponsored research and studies, applications to the organization’s various training and educational programs, a detailed directory of CMBM-certified practitioners, press releases and articles regarding events and projects of the organization, among other services and resources.

“CMBM decided to invest in a new Web site to improve communications with our constituents, who include donors, healthcare professionals, individuals, and health-related institutions,” explained Namrata Mehta, CMBM’s director of finance and administration. “The Web site is an important component of our marketing and PR activities and is expected to increase registrations at our programs and increase donations. Three weeks after the launch of the new Web site, we are already seeing favorable increases in traffic and retention” (e-mail, May 25, 2006).

CMBM offers conferences on recent research on alternative treatments for cancer. Transcripts of past conferences are available on the organization’s Web site.

The new Web site is accessible at www.cmbm.org.
