New Book Examines Functional Foods for Chronic Diseases

The Functional Foods Center at D&A Inc., a research and development center located in Richardson, TX, that promotes further development of functional food innovations, published a new book in July titled Functional Foods for Chronic Diseases. The book focuses on modern approaches to the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases through dietary supplements, botanicals, and other functional food products.1 Various scientists from around the world contributed to the book, including participants of the international conference “Functional Foods for the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Diseases,” held November 14-15, 2005, in Dallas, TX. The book was edited by Danik M. Martirosyan, PhD, the chair of that conference.

The 255-page book is available through Amazon.com for $59. For information about special discounts on purchases, contact the Functional Foods Center at ffc_usa@sbcglobal.net or 866-464-6955.

A report on the topics and presentations from the conference “Functional Foods for the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Diseases,” co-authored by Dr. Martirosyan, was published in the latest issue of HerbalGram (72).2 That conference report, titled “Functional Food Products and Chronic Diseases,” is available online from the ABC Web site.
