Name of Drug
Aurantii pericarpium, bitter orange peel.
Composition of Drug
Bitter orange peel consists of the dried outer peel of ripe fruits of Citrus aurantium L. subspecies aurantium (synonym C. aurantium L. subspecies amara Engler) [Fam. Rutaceae], freed from the white pulp layer, as well as its preparations in effective dosage.
The drug contains essential oil and bitter principles.

Loss of appetite, dyspeptic ailments.
Contraindications

None known.
Side Effects
|
|
Photosensitization is possible, especially in fair-skinned individuals.
Interactions with Other Drugs
None known.
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed:
Daily dosage:
- Drug: 4 - 6 g;
- Tincture (according to DAB 7): 2 - 3 g;
- Extract (according to Erg. B. 6 ): 1 - 2 g.
Mode of Administration
Comminuted drug for teas, other bitter-tasting galenical preparations for oral application.
