Coffeae carbo, coffee charcoal.
Composition of Drug
Coffee charcoal consists of milled, roasted to blackening and carbonizing of the outer seed parts of green, dried fruit of Coffea arabica L., C. liberica Bull ex Hiern, C. canephora Pierre ex Frhner and other Coffea species [Fam. Rubiaceae], as well as preparations of coffee charcoal in effective dosage.
Uses

Nonspecific, acute diarrhea, local therapy of mild inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa.

Note:Due to the high adsorption capacity of coffee charcoal, the absorption of other, simultaneously administered drugs can be influenced.
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed:
Average daily dosage:
- 9 g;
- equivalent preparations.
Duration of Use
If diarrhea persists for more than 3 - 4 days, consult a physician.
Mode of Administration
Powdered coffee charcoal and its preparations intended for internal consumption or local application.
