Name of Drug
Guajaci lignum, guaiac wood.
Composition of Drug
Guaiac wood consists of the heartwood and sapwood of Guaiacum officinale L. and/or G. sanctum L. [Fam. Zygophyll-aceae], as well as their preparations in effective dosage. The wood contains resin and saponins.

Supportive therapy for rheumatic complaints.

Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed:
Average daily dosage:
- 4.5 g of drug;
- equivalent preparations.
Mode of Administration
Comminuted wood for decoctions and other galenical preparations for internal use.
Note:The essential oil known as "guaiac wood oil" must be evaluated separately.
