Name of Drug

Graminis flos, hay flower.  

Composition of Drug

Hay flower consists of the inflorescence, fruits and above-ground parts of Poaceae .  

Uses

Topical use:

  • heat therapy for degenerative diseases, such as the various forms of arthritis.  

Contraindications

Open injuries, acute arthritis attacks, acute inflammation.  

Side Effects

Allergic skin reactions are possible in rare cases.  

Interactions with Other Drugs

None known.  

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed:

  • Externally 1 - 2 times daily as moist heat in the form of compresses.  

The hay flower bag is heated to 42° C (ca.  108° F), directly applied to the part to be treated, covered over and left in place for 40 - 50 minutes.  

For reasons of hygiene, the contents of the bag should be used only once.
