Name of Drug

Lupuli strobulus, hops strobile, hops.  

Composition of Drug

Hops, consisting of the dried strobiles of Humulus lupulus L.  [Fam. Moraceae], and their preparations in effective dosage.  

The drug contains at least 0.35 percent (v/w) essential oil.  

Other ingredients are a- and -bitter acids and 2-methyl-3-butanol.  

Uses

Mood disturbances such as restlessness and anxiety, sleep disturbances.

None known.

None known.  

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed:

Single dosage of drug:

  • 0.5 g.  

Mode of Administration

Cut drug, powdered drug or dry extract powder for infusions or decoctions or other preparations.  Liquid and solid preparations for internal use.  

Note:Combinations with all other sedatives can be beneficial.
