Name of Drug

Polygoni avicularis herba, knotweed, knotgrass.  

Composition of Drug

Knotweed herb consists of the dried herb, occasionally containing roots, of Polygonum aviculare L.  [Fam.  Polygonaceae], gathered during flowering season, as well as its preparations in effective dosage.  

The drug contains tannin and silicic acid.  

Uses

Mild catarrhs of the respiratory tract, inflammatory changes to the oral and pharyngeal mucosa.

None known.

None known.  

Dosage

Daily dosage:

  • 4 - 6 g of drug;
  • equivalent preparations.  

Mode of Administration

Ground herb for teas and other galenical preparations for internal use and local application.
