Larch Turpentine Terebinthina laricina

Name of Drug
Terebinthina laricina, larch turpentine. Terebinthina veneta, Venetian turpentine.
Composition of Drug
The balsam of Larix decidua Miller [Fam. Pinaceae], obtained by drilling into the trunks.
The balsam contains up to 20 percent essential oil.
Uses

Rheumatic and neuralgic discomforts, catarrhal diseases of the respiratory tract, furuncle.
Contraindications
|
|
Sensitivity to essential oils.
For inhalation:
- acute inflammation of the respiratory tract.
Side Effects

|
Topical application can cause allergic skin reactions, as has been observed with all balsams.
Interactions with Other Drugs
None known.
Dosage
External:
- Liquid and semi-solid preparations 10 - 20 percent.
Mode of Administration
Embrocations in the form of ointments, gels, emulsions and oils.
