Name of Drug

Malvae folium, mallow leaf.  

Composition of Drug

Mallow leaf consists of the dried leaves of Malva sylvestris L.  and/or M.  neglecta Wallroth [Fam.  Malvaceae], or equivalent preparations in effective dosage.  

The drug contains mucilage.  

Uses

Irritations of mucosa of mouth and throat and associated dry, irritating cough.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed:

Daily dose:

  • 5 g of drug;
  • equivalent preparations.  

Mode of Administration

Comminuted drug for infusions as well as other galenical preparations for internal use.
