Althaeae folium, marshmallow leaf.
Composition of Drug
Marshmallow leaf consists of the dried leaf of Althaea officinalis L. [Fam. Malvaceae], as well as its preparations in effective dosage.
The drug contains mucilage.

Irritation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa and associated dry cough.

Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed:
Daily dosage:
- 5 g of leaf;
- equivalent preparations.
Mode of Administration
Cut leaves for aqueous extracts as well as other galenical preparations for internal use.
Action
Alleviates local irritation.
