Spiraeae flos, meadowsweet flower. Spiraeae herba, meadowsweet herb.
Composition of Drug
Meadowsweet flower consists of the dried flower of Filipendula ulmaria (L.) Maximowicz (syn. Spiraea ulmaria L.) [Fam. Rosaceae], as well as its preparations in effective dosage.
Meadowsweet herb consists of the dried, above-ground parts of F. ulmaria (L.) Maximowicz, harvested during flowering season, as well as its preparations in effective dosage.
The drug contains flavonoids and, mainly in the flowers, phenol glycosides, also essential oil.

As supportive therapy for colds.
Contraindications

Note:Meadowsweet flowers contain salicylate. They should not be used where a salicylate sensitivity exists.

Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed:
Daily dosage:
- 2.5 - 3.5 g meadowsweet flower or 4 - 5 g meadowsweet herb;
- equivalent preparations.
Mode of Administration
Comminuted herb and other galenical preparations for infusions; a cup of the infusion drunk as hot as possible several times a day.
