Name of Drug
Adonidis herba, pheasant's eye herb, adonis.
Composition of Drug
Pheasant's eye herb consists of the dried above-ground parts of Adonis vernalis L. [Fam. Ranunculaceae], gathered during the flowering season, as well as its preparations in effective dosage. The herb contains cardioactive glycosides and flavonoids.
Uses

Mild impairment of heart function, especially when accompanied by nervous symptoms.
Contraindications

|
Therapy with digitalis glycosides, potassium deficiency.
Side Effects

None known.
Note:If overdosed: nausea, vomiting, rhythmic heart disorder.
Interactions with Other Drugs
Enhancement of effectiveness, and thus also of side effects, with simultaneous administration of quinidine, calcium, saluretics, laxatives, and extended therapy with glucocorticoids.

Actions
Positively inotropic Animal experiments showed a tonic effect on the veins.
