Name of Drug

Pini turiones, pine sprouts.  

Composition of Drug

Pine sprouts consist of the fresh or dried, 3 - 5 cm long sprouts, collected in spring, of Pinus sylvestris L.  [Fam.  Pinaceae], as well as their preparations in effective dosage.  

Pine sprouts contain essential oil, resin.  

Uses

Internal:

  • catarrhal conditions of the upper and lower respiratory tract.  

External:

  • mild muscular pain and neuralgia.

None known.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed:

Average daily dosage:

  • 2 - 3 g of drug;
  • equivalent preparations.  

Embrocation:

  • Liquid or semi-solid preparations of extracts of pine sprouts corresponding to 20 - 50 percent.  

Mode of Administration

Internal:

  • comminuted herb for teas, syrup and tinctures.  

External:

  • alcoholic solutions, as oils or ointments.
