Name of Drug
Santali lignum albi, white sandalwood.
Composition of Drug
White sandalwood consists of the core wood of the trunk of the tree after removal of bark and of the branches of Santalum album L. [Fam. Santalaceae], as well as its preparations in effective dosages.
The drug contains essential oil.
Uses

For adjuvant therapy of infections of the lower urinary tract.
Contraindications
|
|
Diseases of the parenchyma of the kidney.
Side Effects
|
|
Nausea, sometimes itching of the skin.
Interaction with Other Drugs
None known.
Dosage
Daily dosage:
- 1 - 1.5 g essential oil;
- 10 - 20 g drug;
- equivalent preparations.
Mode of Administration
Comminuted drug for decoctions as well as other galenical preparations for oral intake.
Note: Isolated oil of sandalwood should be used in an enteric coated form.
Duration of Administration
Not more than 6 weeks without consultation of a physician.
