Caricis rhizoma, German sarsaparilla.  

German sarsaparilla consists of the dried, underground parts of Carex arenaria L.  

[Fam.  Cyperaceae], as well as preparations thereof.  

Preparations of German sarsaparilla are used for the prevention of gout, arthritis, inflammations of the joints, for skin ailments and as a diaphoretic and diuretic.  

The effectiveness of the claimed application is not documented.  

Based on the saponin content, local irritations could occur.  

Since the effectiveness for the claimed uses is not documented, a therapeutic application cannot be recommended.
