Name of Drug
Cytisi scoparii herba, Scotch broom herb.
Composition of Drug
Scotch broom herb consists of the above-ground parts of Cytisus scoparius (L.) Link, as well as preparations thereof in effective dosage.
The drug contains alkaloids, primarily sparteine. Preparations contain not more than 1 mg/ml of sparteine.

Interaction with Other Drugs
Due to the tyramine content, application of the drug can cause a blood pressure crisis by simultaneous administration of MAO-inhibitors.
Dosage
Unless otherwise prescribed:
Daily dosage:
- aqueous-ethanolic extracts equivalent to 1 - 1.5 g of drug.
Mode of Administration
Aqueous-ethanolic extracts for internal use.
